Bringing Five Jewish Directors Into Focus

Join our pals at the MNjcc for this cool series on five significant Jewish-American filmmakers: Fritz Lang, Otto Preminger, Barbra Streisand, Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker, and Todd Haynes. Popular film critic (and Speakers Annex friend) Adam Nayman analyzes the social, artistic and philosophical dimensions of their work, how (or if) their films connect to their Judaism, and the diverse cinematic worlds they represent. This winter, our amici at the Columbus Centre are offering a special ‘Taste of Italy’ dining series featuring delicious dishes prepared by Boccaccio Ristorante Executive Chef Luciano Schipano. Each month, they’ll present a 4-course menu showcasing a different region of Italy and the meals should pair beautifully with our upcoming Speakers Annex series on “Cultural Landmarks in Great World Cities,” featuring a lecture by Italian Cultural Studies prof Dr. Teresa Lobalsamo on an iconic cafe in Naples.
